A mini blog about Ile de Ré. I’ll mostly let the photos speak for themselves because the island was so picturesque and LOVELY! I had a hard time editing the photos down to just a few. All the things that are said about the island’s quaint charm are true. We passed through the villages of La Flotte, St. Martin, and La Noue – all special and adorable. Among the many highlights of the trip: eating oysters, riding bikes through the villages, and viewing the superb firework show for La Nuit Américaine, which was a tribute to both the American Army liberating France 70 years ago and Nicolas Martiau, who is an ancestor of George Washington. The strong American-French connection was shining through.
I only wish I had more than a weekend. If you have a chance – go, and take me with you!
It’s such a lovely place we bought a house there!
Lucky you!!
